Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday announced that 'Dahi-Handi' will now be recognised as an official sport in the state.

At least 119 Govindas were injured in Mumbai and 14 in neighbouring Thane on Saturday during dahi-handi celebrations, officials said, even as the events to mark the birth of Lord Krishna remained low key in several areas.

Ahead of Janmashtami, the Supreme Court today remanded back to the Bombay High Court a plea of the Maharashtra government challenging its order capping the height of the human pyramid and barring participation of minors in the famous 'Dahi-handi' festival.
