"Anarchy If People Don't Get Food During Lockdown": Maharashtra Minister

There will be anarchy if people do not get food during the lockdown for the coronavirus outbreak, Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal said on Tuesday and asked the public distribution system (PDS) staff and fair price shop owners to ensure eligible beneficiaries get food.

Six motorcycles were torched and two shops were damaged in Sardarpur town in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district after farmers clashed with shopkeepers, police said today. The farmers were protesting to demand 'fair prices' for agricultural produce, the police said.

The Aam Aadmi Party government today assured the people that Fair Price Shops have enough stock and will continue to sell onions at Rs 30 per kilogram till prices stabilise, and appealed to Delhiites not to indulge in panic buying, as prices of the vegetable has gone as high as Rs 70 per kilogram in some areas of the city.
