Legendary magician PC Sorcar (Junior) on Tuesday described the deadly attempt of the 40-year-old Mandrake to show an underwater escape act as a "foolish" attempt.

The police on Monday recovered the body of a magician who drowned while trying to replicate an underwater Harry Houdini-inspired stunt - tying himself up with chains and ropes and being lowered into a river.

A stuntman who entered the Ganges river on Sunday tied up with steel chains and rope is missing, police said.
