National broadcaster Doordarshan today denied allegations that Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's Independence Day speech was blacked out by state-run TV and radio on Tuesday. Mr Sarkar, alleging that he had been asked to "reshape" his address, called it "thoroughly undemocratic, authoritarian and curtailment of freedom of speech."

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday alleged that Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) refused to broadcast his Independence Day address unless he "reshaped" it and termed it as an "undemocratic, autocratic and intolerant step".
