Several northeastern states, including Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, and Assam, remained cut off from rest of country by rail as railway tracks were waterlogged and damaged after landslides triggered by incessant rain in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal.

Search and rescue operation continued for the 13th day on Tuesday at a railways construction site in Manipur's Noney district, where at least 52 people have been killed in a landslide, officials said.
