The day-long bandh called on Thursday by Maoists in the Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) area to protest against the recent encounter in Chhattisgarh failed to evoke any response.

As a part of their nation-wide bandh, Maoists cut-off trees and placed them on a road leading to the temple town of Bhadrachalam in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh. A nation-wide bandh call was given by the banned outfit CPI (Maoists) against Operation Green Hunt and the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

Maoists called for a 48-hour 'Bharat bandh' from July 7 to protest against the killing of their senior Politburo member Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad at Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh by the police, top Maoist leader Kishenji said on Sunday.
