Nearly a month after he was abducted by the Maoists in Odisha, uncertainty still continues over the fate of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Jhina Hikaka. Mr Hikaka was kidnapped on March 24 from Koraput district while returning home from a political meeting.

A tribal MLA of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha, Jhina Hikaka, has been abducted by Maoists in Koraput district. The abduction comes 10 days after the Maoists took two Italians hostage from Kandhamal district. Sources have told NDTV that factional rivalry between Maoists is likely the reason behind the MLA's abduction.

The Odisha assembly was adjourned today due to ruckus after a tribal MLA of the ruling BJD was abducted by Maoists in Koraput district in the early hours today. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called for an emergency meeting in the morning today to discuss the situation.
