Mercedes-Benz India sold over 4,000 cars in Q1 2022 and already has an order bank of over 5,000 cars, its largest ever so far and the company expects that number to grow exponentially.

Carmaker said that the company has sold over 11,000 cars under its new sales model while its order books continued to grow.

Mercedes' India sales rose more than 40% to 11,242 cars in 2021, coming off a low of 7,893 during the pandemic-hit year of 2020.

Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, disclosed that the German carmaker will expand its Maybach, AMG, and the EQ range in the country with 10 new products.

Mercedes-Benz India says that it enjoys a 50:50 share of sales with SUVs and sedans, despite the global popularity of SUVs, and it expects demand for sedans to stay with several new launches planned.

Speaking exclusively to carandbike on Freewheeling with SVP, Martin Schwenk, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India confirmed that the company is planning to launch about 7 AMG models this year.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic putting plans off the rails, Mercedes-Benz India is confident that it will be able to introduce the A-Class Limousine within this calendar year, while the new-generation GLA is only set to arrive in 2021.
