Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said strict action will be taken against educational institutes that withhold degrees of Scheduled Caste students.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday ordered a comprehensive probe into alleged irregularities in the post matric scholarship scheme that had surfaced during the previous Congress regime in the state.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has urged the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to aware the students of Post Matric Scheduled Caste (PMS SC) Scholarship.

The Chief Minister also urged the Centre to implement the revised sharing pattern of the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste students (PMS-SCs) for the period 2017-2020.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme For SC Students: The revised scheme has been aimed at creating an impact on the poorest Scheduled Caste households.

India Budget 2021 News: The Government will spend Rs 35,219 crore for post-matric scholarships to Scheduled Caste students, for the next six years, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today.

Registrations are open for pre and post Matric scholarships offered by different Stats and Union Territories. Eligible candidates can apply online at the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved changes in the centrally sponsored 'Post Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (PMS-SC)' to benefit more than four crore SC student.

The Chief Minister urged PM Modi that the post-matric scholarship scheme be shared between the centre and the states in a 60:40 ratio in line with other Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

At present, both central and state governments are offering scholarships of more than Rs. 10,000 crores annually for pre matric, post matric and higher education.

Thousands of students have filled and submitted online applications for pre and post matric scholarships at special kiosks set up by Srinagar administration, an official said on Sunday.
