"Rs 100 Too Small A Bribe": Officer Accused Of Corruption Gets Court Relief

An amount of Rs 100 seems to be "too small" as a bribe in the year 2007 and more so now, the Bombay High Court has said while acquitting a government medical officer in a corruption and bribery case.

Former Judge Quddusi Seeks Probe Into Phone Tap Leak In Medical Scam Case

Controversial former judge IM Quddusi has asked a trial court in Delhi to investigate the leak of transcripts of phone conversations between him and two other accused in the medical college bribery scam. The former Orissa High Court judge is out on bail after his arrest last year in connection with allegations of bribing judges.

Eight people, including seven Indian-Americans, have been charged for their alleged involvement in a scheme in which over 2.3 million dollars (around Rs 135 crore) were paid in bribes and kickbacks to executives of a medical cost management company to secure business from it.
