Government Allows Import Of Medical Devices For 3 Months As Covid Surges

The central government on Thursday permitted the import of 17 medical devices for three months with mandatory declarations required under the Legal Metrology Rules, 2011 after custom clearance and before sale amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

To Fight Price Rise Government To 'Fix' Prices of Pulses, Sugar

In order to check inflation, the government has amended the metrology rules which would allow it to fix retail prices of essential commodities like pulses and sugar in extra-ordinary situations. Under the present system, retail prices are fixed by market forces, leaving very little room for the government to check undue spike in prices.
