Confirming links between gut bacteria and cardiovascular disease, researchers have demonstrated that targeting microbes in the gut may prevent heart disease brought on by nutrients contained in a diet rich in red meat, eggs and high-fat dairy products.

India's food safety watchdog on Monday notified the draft norms for regulating microbes in meat and meat products, and said they would come into force after 60 days of it being published in the official gazette.
