Heeding to the plea of a law-student that a lot of paper is wasted every year in Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) polls, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) today sought a response from the government on the issue.

The government will soon announce a scheme to allow private players to develop degraded forest land under the private-public partnership model, a union minister said today.

The National Green Tribunal has directed an inquiry into the alleged illegal felling and sale of 4,000 trees in the eco-sensitive zone near the Taj Mahal.

Infrastructure projects, including those related to coal and highways, stuck for want of green nod are expected to be cleared soon with Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MoEF) today informing the Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) that it has initiated steps for speedy approval to schemes.
