Mizoram Hailstorm

Bizarre weather activity was seen in parts of Mizoram on Wednesday as the sky turned pitch black shortly after noon. Videos of slow traffic in darkness amid heavy hail and dust storms have been widely circulated on social media.

At least 362 houses were damaged by thunderstorm, accompanied by massive hailstorm and squall, which hit the Mizoram-Myanmar border village of Ratu last evening.

Over 200 houses, especially tin- roofed and those with asbestos walls, were damaged in rain and hailstorm in different areas of Kolasib district in Mizoram, official sources said today.
