Mobile Number On Aadhaar

Aadhaar Card has become one of the most important documents of identification. It is a 16-digit unique identification number, which is issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Tuesday announced the addition of new facility on its webiste and mobile app to allow residents to verify their mobile numbers and email IDs seeded with their Aadhaar.

Over 1 crore mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar following requests from residents in the month of February, an official statement said on Friday. The linking of mobile numbers with Aadhaar jumped 93 percent in February from 56.7 lakh registration in January, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The Opposition on Thursday criticised the government during the discussion on amendments to provide legal backing for voluntary seeding of biometric Aadhaar ID with mobile numbers and bank accounts.

UIDAI Aadhaar card lock: Once engaged, the Aadhaar biometrics lock dismisses any attempts to authenticate the identity of the individual using the data, according to the UIDAI website. The UIDAI requires the user to possess the Aadhaar-registered mobile number to be able to log in on its self-service portal, uidai.gov.in.

Aadhaar UIDAI: The address given on an Aadhaar card can be changed or updated online using an OTP-based process using the registered mobile number, according to the UIDAI's Aadhaar self-service portal. For changed in any other details fed into the UIDAI's Aadhaar database, the UID holder is required to visit an "Aadhaar Kendra" (Aadhaar centre).
