Mr Zubair has been arrested in four out of the seven cases, and judicial custody has been ordered in two cases. He had requested the Supreme Court to cancel six cases filed against him by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

The bail plea hearing of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair is scheduled to be held in the sessions court of Uttar Pradesh's Mohammadi today.

A case was registered against Mr Zubair in Lakhimpur in September 2021 regarding a tweet against a private news channel. The complaint had been filed by a Sudarshan News employee for a tweet made by Mr Zubair on May 14, 2021.
