More than a decade after its merger with parent party, GK Moopanar founded Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) was today revived by his son and former Union Minister GK Vasan, weeks after he quit the Congress.

Former Union Minister GK Vasan, who recently broke away from the Congress in Tamil Nadu, has unveiled the flag of his new outfit.

Days after the Congress - already a spent force in Tamil Nadu - was split by GK Vasan, the party should abandon "bravado" by professing that "people quitting doesn't matter." That's the blunt assessment of Karti Chidambaram, the 42-year-old lawyer who, like every other Congressman from the state, lost the national election in May.

The already depleted Congress seems headed for a setback with former Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan reportedly giving ample indications of breaking away from the party and reviving the erstwhile Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC).

In an embarrassment to Congress, facing the heat over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, posters appeared on Friday in some parts of the city demanding revival of late G K Moopanar floated Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) to uphold Tamils's respect.
