Mopa Greenfield Airport

The Union Cabinet has given ex-post facto approval for naming of Greenfield International Airport at Goa's Mopa as Manohar International Airport, after former Defence Minister and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the first phase of the Mopa greenfield international airport in Goa even as he targeted previous governments for adopting a "vote bank approach" instead of creating public amenities.

Union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani today said existing airport at Dabolim in Goa would remain functional even after proposed greenfield airport at Mopa becomes a reality.

The GMR Group also owns and operates Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport as well as Hyderabad airport.

GMR Airports Limited (GAL), a subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited has won the international competitive bid for development and operation of the Mopa greenfield airport in North Goa.
