A fire broke out in a container at a Metro construction site near Sidhhivinayak temple in the wee hours today.

A fire engulfed grass on the plot of the proposed site for a metro carshed at suburban Kanjurmarg in Mumbai on Monday evening, officials said, adding that nobody was injured.

A car on fire in Mumbai's posh suburb Andheri caused major panic at a metro station this afternoon. The car, a white Honda City, caught fire and stopped right under the Chakala Metro Station, and plumes of thick dark smoke could be seen emerging from it.

Two Parsi high priests have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to realign the upcoming Metro III rail project saying it threatens the sanctity of two fire temples in south Mumbai, which would be a "great religious loss" to the community.
