Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria has reprimanded two police officers for last week's raids on hotels, when cops pulled out couples from rooms that they had checked into and allegedly harassed and humiliated them, according to sources.

The police action -- allegedly dragging out consenting couples from hotel rooms -- faced widespread criticism from the civil society.

The Malwani police, several of whose officers were suspended for allowing a spurious liquor racket to flourish in their jurisdiction, which led to the deaths of more than 100 people in the hooch tragedy last month, seem to have declared war on an easy target: sex.
