154 Skyscrapers In Mumbai Metropolitan Region, 207 Being Built: Report

Mumbai woke up to a hazy day on Wednesday, clouding a view of the city's skyline and triggering concerns of a continuing drop in air quality over the next few days. The city's air, usually much better than national capital Delhi, is expected to decline sharply on Diwali night when it is likely to fall to from 'moderate' category to "poor".

That's where Mumbai's skyline seems to be heading if the financial capital's civic body's proposal to significantly increase floor space index or FSI for city's Development Plan 2014-2034 is accepted. FSI is the ratio of a building's total area to the measurement of land on which it's constructed.

Mumbai and other cities across Maharashtra will now be free from illegal political hoardings. An estimated 15,000 illegal hoardings have been removed in just 24 hours by civic bodies across the state after the Bombay High Court cracked the whip - remove them by Thursday or face action, it said.
