Munde Heart Attack

A day after Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde was hospitalised, state Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday said Mr Munde did not suffer a mild heart attack, but had become "unconscious for sometime".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi were among the hundreds of political leaders and BJP workers who paid their last respects to union rural development minister Gopinath Munde at the party headquarters today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said he was extremely saddened by the demise of his "friend" and cabinet colleague Gopinath Munde whom he hailed as a "true mass leader".

Gopinath Munde, union rural development minister, who died this morning of a heart attack after a road accident in Delhi, was one of the BJP's top leaders in Maharashtra, and was considered to be the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for the assembly elections to be held in the state by October this year.
