Muslim Conference Banned

The government Wednesday banned two factions of the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir for five years for their anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda, and asking people to refrain from taking part in elections.

Present day India is not the country that Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said Wednesday, adding that the decision "would have been something else" if people had known Muslims' right will not be protected.
