The Supreme Court has asked a government laboratory in Mysore to clarify whether its tests on Maggi noodles show lead and monosodium glutamate or MSG within safe limits.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said the testing of Maggi noodles samples as directed by National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) will now be undertaken by the Mysore-based Central Food Technological Research Institute lab.

Food safety watchdog FSSAI today said it has not given any clean chit to Nestle's banned Maggi noodles as it rubbished all-clear reports from two of its own empanelled labs, saying there were lapses in the tests.

A father who forced his 12-year-old daughter to beg after she fared badly in exams was arrested and released in Mysore. On Monday night, Prakash, a senior assistant lab technician forced his daughter to beg at a temple because he was upset with her.
