The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition by the Associate Editor of Tamil bi-weekly 'Nakheeran', A Kamaraj, seeking to quash proceedings against him initiated by the Privileges Committee (PC) of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly relating two articles in the magazine's January 7 issue about Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Film on Veerappan has to be approved by 'Nakheeran' editor: Court

A local court has restrained the producers of Tamil film 'Vana Yudham' and its Kannada version 'Attagasam', depicting the life of slain forest brigand Veerappan, from screening them without the approval of Tamil bi-weekly 'Nakheeran' editor Gopal about his role in them.

The Madras High Court today said Editor of Tamil bi-weekly 'Nakkheran' Gopal, who had already been granted anticipatory bail in connection with a recent publication of an allegedly defamatory article relating to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, should not be arrested in other cases, arising out of the same alleged offence.
