Restaurants Turn Deaf Ear To Government, Insist On Service Charge

Two days after a Central government advisory made paying service charge at a restaurant voluntary, restaurants in the national capital have dug in their heels, insisting on levying the charge. Service charge, which ranges from 5 to 20 per cent of the bill and is added to it instead of tips, cannot be forced on the customer, the government had said.

The Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) was suspended in December 2012 and was instructed to hold a fresh election as the International Boxing Association (AIBA) felt that the polls held back then, in September, were possibly manipulated. But officials running the Indian body turned a deaf ear to repeated warnings by the AIBA.
