National Cancer Registry Programme

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research's National Cancer Registry Programme (ICMR-NCRP), the estimated number of cervical cancer cases in the country in 2023 was more than 3.4 lakh, the government informed Parliament.

The National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) Report 2020 has estimated that based on current trends there will be 13.9 lakh cancer cases across the country by the end of 2020, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said today.

The number of deaths due to cancer has been increasing in the country, according to the National Cancer Registry Programme of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

With more than 1,300 persons succumbing to cancer every day, it has become one of the major causes of death occurring in the country due to communicable and life-style ailments, followed by tuberculosis.

The latest figures of the National Cancer Registry Programme of the ICMR indicate that more than 2.5 million Indians suffer from cancer.
