National Dental Commission Bill

The Lok Sabha today passed the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023 and the National Dental Commission Bill, 2023, which seek to usher in better quality of nursing and dental education.

Dental Hygienists and Dental Mechanics have been left out of the draft National Dental Commission Bill. The bill, which would repeal the Dentists Act 1948, was released on January 28.

The draft of National Dental Commission Bill 2020 proposes an exit exam for undergraduate dental students.

The new Bill has the provision for making national standards in medical education uniform by proposing that the final year MBBS exam be treated as an entrance test for PG and screening test for students who graduated in medicine from foreign countries.
