Chief of Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan today said the Indian Navy will in future build all types of ships including those designed for warfare indigenously in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Make in India" initiative.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan today conferred gallantry and unit citations during the naval investiture ceremony held at the Naval Docks in Mumbai. 29 awards and six unit citations were conferred at the ceremony.

India is fully prepared to protect its long coastal region and secure its maritime interests with round-the-clock surveillance, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral RK Dhowan said on Saturday.

Aimed at enhancing the Navy's coastal surveillance, its largest offshore patrol vessel INS Sumitra was formally commissioned by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan in Chennai today.
