Ndfb-songbijit Militants

Twelve militants of NDFB-Songbijit, which was behind the December massacre of over 70 people in lower Assam, were apprehended during a joint operation by security forces in the Manas Reserve Forest in Chirang District along the India-Bhutan border.

An encounter today took place between NDFB-Songbijit militants and 12 Assam Rifles personnel in Itakhola area of Assam's Sonitpur district along Arunachal Pradesh, a police officer said.

Five persons, including a tea garden official, were injured and two vehicles damaged in a grenade blast by suspected NDFB-Songbijit militants at Itakhola in Assam's Sonitpur district along Arunachal Pradesh on Friday evening, police said.
