"I can't understand it, but I think this is all politics between both sides. It is very sad that it's not released in Pakistan, because more than 60 years ago, we were the same country. We look similar, have a similar culture. I can't understand the reason why it's not released there, it can't be that complicated," said Sonam

"I hope they reconsider our film. Anybody who has seen the film would know we have not shown anything against anyone. Any country would have gone through this problem. We are not showing any country in a bad light," director Ram Madhvani said

"The film was never brought to us for censorship," he said, adding that the commerce and information ministry had also asked the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) to ensure that Neerja is not shown on cable channels throughout Pakistan
