A Foxconn unit will on Monday sign an agreement with India's Tamil Nadu state to build a new facility for electronic components that will create 6,000 new jobs, a senior state government source with direct knowledge said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday inaugurated completed projects worth Rs 1367 crore in this district, and laid the foundation for new initiatives at an estimated Rs 236 crore.

Mitsubishi Electric India has decided to set up a new manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu at an investment of about Rs. 1,891 crore. The manufacturing facility for room air-conditioners and compressors is expected to come up on a 52 acre land. Company officials said the commercial production at the facility was expected to begin in October 2025.
