NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured a region of colourful dust and gas clouds encircling an HH 505 or a Herbig-Haro object in the Orion Nebula. Herbig-Haro objects, which are bright regions surrounding young stars, are created when stellar winds or jets of gas emitted by these stars collide violently with neighbouring gas and dust.

The NASA Home and City website features about 130 spinoff technologies in a virtual space, allowing users to discover common items that NASA inspired or helped improve.

A new website, called Backyard Worlds: Planet 9, lets everyone participate in the search by viewing brief movies made from images captured by NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission.

The images are taken by a Nasa camera one million miles away on the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR).
