Nilgiri Mountain Rail

The Nilgiri Mountain Rail (NMR) service from Mettupalayam to Udhagamandalam in Tamil Nadu has been suspended till November 29 to enable track restoration work after rampant landslips.

About 200 passengers of the heritage Nilgiri Mountain Rail service were stranded for nearly two hours after a huge tree uprooted in heavy rains fell on the track between Kallar and Aderley stations today.

The Nilgiris Mountain Rail, which resumed its service on Tuesday morning after five days, was again suspended a few hours later due to landslip on the track near Aruvangadu in Nilgiris district.

Passenger train services between Mettupalayam and Coonoor in the Nilgiris Mountain Rail (NMR) sector have been cancelled for seven more days upto December 4 due to continued heavy rain and landslips.
