The CEO of crisis-hit Japanese auto giant Nissan plans to resign, local media reported on Monday, days after admitting he received more pay than his entitlement.

Nissan Motor Co is not considering asking embattled Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa to resign now, two people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Friday, a day after he admitted to being overpaid in violation of internal procedures.

The CEO of crisis-hit Japanese automaker Nissan received more pay than he was entitled to, local media reported Thursday, as the firm reels from the arrest of its former chief for financial misconduct.

Renault-Nissan is planning to roll out an affordable and compact electric car specifically for China, which will be based on the Renault Kwid. Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa said that the idea is to design a compact car in the A class segment for urban dwellers that do not travel long distances.

As of April 1, 2017, Nissan will have a new CEO. Replacing Carlos Ghosn, will be Hiroto Saikawa the current co-CEO of the Nissan Motor Company. Carlos Ghosn will continue to however be on the board of directors of the Nissan Motor Company as well as the head of the Renault Nissan Alliance.
