Nitish Kumar Liquor Ban Promise

In the run-up to the assembly elections in Bihar, Nitish had made a promise to the electorate that he would introduce prohibition in the state if he formed the government. He got the mandate from the people and nobody can grudge him the right to introduce a ban on alcohol.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday said all political parties were together on imposition of a total ban on sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar, put into action after in-depth study of prohibition in various states.

A partial liquor ban has been brought into effect in Bihar from today following the state government issuing a notification in this regard.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav today hailed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for proposing to impose prohibition in Bihar with effect from April 1 next year and said the Chief Minister was fulfilling his poll promise to the people of the state.
