Pro-Telangana forces today hurled stones at police and government employees from the Andhra-Rayalaseema regions in a bid to thwart a rally organised in Hyderabad by the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association (APNGOA).

The 24-hour Telangana bandh called by pro-statehood groups began at midnight even as tension prevailed near Nizam college in the wake of a meeting by a group of employees to oppose the proposed bifurcation.

Students of Hyderabad's Osmania University and Nizam College clashed with police on Monday after they were stopped from taking out a march to demand a separate Telangana state. Police fired teargas shells to disperse students who were pelting stones after the rally was stopped at NCC Gate.
