Former chief engineer of Noida authority Yadav Singh, arrested in a corruption case, has been released from Dasna prison after securing bail from Allahabad High Court.

A division bench of the Allahabad High Court granted bail today to the former chief engineer of the Noida Authority, Yadav Singh, who was arrested this February for allegedly awarding projects to seven people at rates higher than those prevalent in the market, thereby causing a loss to the government.

The CBI has arrested former New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) chief engineer Yadav Singh on Monday in a 2-year-old corruption case for allegedly awarding projects worth Rs 116.39 crore to private companies during his tenure, in exchange for regular bribes from them, officials said.

The CBI has registered a fresh corruption case against Noida's former Chief Engineer Yadav Singh for awarding contracts worth Rs 116.39 crore to five private companies by violating tender norms, an official said on Friday.

The CBI on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against then Noida authority chief engineer Yadav Singh and 13 others, including his wife and former officials, on charges of corruption that caused a loss of Rs.19 crore to the government exchequer.

CBI has claimed to have recovered two kg of gold from the Assistant Project Engineer, Noida, Ramendra in connection with alleged corruption case involving Noida Chief Engineer Yadav Singh.

The Supreme Court declined to entertain a petition filed by the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government challenging the July 16 order of the Allahabad High Court of handing over the corruption case against former chief engineer of Noida authority, Yadav Singh to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
