After over two weeks of sit-in demonstration, some farmers in Noida have launched an indefinite fast to press for their demands, including enhanced compensation in lieu of their land acquired by the Noida Authority over the years.

Farmer leader Manvir Singh Teotia, who led a farmers' agitation against land takeover in Bhatta-Parsaul village in Greater Noida in May, is on a fast in Dasna jail since September 6, his wife said on Saturday.
