The Delhi government has permitted home delivery of liquor for orders placed through mobile apps and via online portals. Last year, states including Kolkata, Maharashtra, Odisha, Siliguri, and West Bengal allowed online delivery of liquor through platforms such as Amazon, BigBasket, Swiggy, and Zomato.

Swiggy and Zomato have started delivering alcohol in partnership with authorised retailers and wine shops in a couple of cities of West Bengal. The food delivery services first launched home delivery of liquor in Jharkhand and Odisha, and now it has been expanded to West Bengal.

It is "impossible" to implement the Supreme Court order to shift liquor shops to at least 500 metres away from national and state highways, the Odisha government has said. There are about 500 liquor shops across the state located within 500 metres from the highways, official sources said.
