The flood situation in Odisha's Mahanadi river system remained grim as it continues to swell, with around 1.5 lakh people in 237 villages being marooned, a senior official said on Wednesday.

Pummeled by heavy rain over the past week, Odisha, is bracing for a "medium flood" in the Mahanadi river basin with the formation of another depression over the Bay of Bengal, the Met office said on Sunday.
