Odisha School Wall Collapse

The Orissa High Court directed the state government on Thursday to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the father of a seven-year-old girl for her "avoidable" death due to a wall collapse at a school in Keonjhar district nine years ago.

Two minor girls were killed and one injured when the parapet of a hostel building of a government-run residential school collapsed in Odisha's Kandhamal district, officials said on Monday.

At least five children, not older than six years were killed after the wall of their school collapsed on Monday in Odisha's Nayagarh district, an official said. The accident occurred at the Anganbadi centre in Suansia village under Ranapur police station area when eleven children and three adults were inside.
