Odisha Schools Summer Vacations

Odisha school summer vacations: All schools, including those run by government, government-aided and private, will remain closed from April 25.

Summer vacations in all schools in Odisha will start tomorrow, the state government announced, bringing forward the holidays in view of the scorching heat.

All educational institutions reopened in Odisha Friday after an 11-day summer break.

The summer vacation in schools which used to be for 50 days will now be for 10 days and the teaching hours will be from 6 am to 9 am from May 1 to June 5. The decision was taken keeping in view the interest of students and help them to catch up with their studies as school.

The Odisha government has decided to start extra classes for students who are weak in studies during the summer vacation from this year, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said on Thursday.

While the schools were earlier scheduled to reopen on June 26 on account of the heat wave conditions, a change in weather conditions has prompted the preponing.

With the intense heatwave condition prevailing across the state, schools in Odisha will open on June 26, Wednesday, after the summer vacations.

Earlier on May 16, the state government had extended the summer vacation till June 21 as the heatwave continued to persist in most parts of the state.

With entire Odisha sizzling under a blistering heat-wave, the state government which had earlier declared school holidays till today, has announced summer vacation in advance.
