A female elephant was killed after being hit by a goods train in Odisha's Keonjhar district, Forest officials said today. The incident took place at around 9.55 pm yesterday night when a herd of 10 elephants were crossing the railway tracks near Ramachandrapur village and the empty goods train was heading towards Nayagarh from Jakhapura.

A week after a train rolled on for nearly 10 km without its engine in Odisha, a similar incident has been reported in Delhi. A engine of a train was derailed today and rolled on for close to 40 metres at Anand Vihar railway station in east Delhi, reported news agency ANI. The railways has suspended the engine driver and ordered an investigation.
