Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today warned hoarders and black marketers against stocking onions to further escalate its prices as the vegetable supply remained limited due to recent floods in main-growing states like Maharasthra and Karnataka.

As per the data maintained by the consumer affairs ministry, retail onion prices rose to Rs 57/kg in Delhi, Rs 56/kg in Mumbai, Rs 48/kg in Kolkata and Rs 34/kg in Chennai last week.

"The date of stock limit of onion has been extended from 31st December 2017 till 31st March 2018," Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan tweeted.
