Organ Trafficking Racket

The Kerala police on Saturday said it has arrested the alleged mastermind behind the international human trafficking network involved in organ harvesting.

The police came to know about the ring when a patient approached them saying he was persuaded by one of the gang members to seek medical treatment privately.

A big human organ trafficking racket that persuaded villagers in debt to sell their kidneys has been busted in Assam. Three people have been arrested, the police said.

It was about two years ago when Rita Sarkar began to feel a sharp ache in her abdomen. Sarkar, of West Bengal, told her husband about the pain, and he took her to a medical facility in Kolkata for treatment.

T. Rajkumar, the alleged mastermind of an organ trafficking racket at Delhi's Indraprastha Apollo hospital, owned two houses, including a palatial building, in Kolkata, and gave lavish four-figure tips to even the local barber.
