Former Navy Chief Arun Prakash today disapproved of military veterans' protest move to return and burn medals against "diluted" One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, and favoured other avenues like negotiating with government to push their demands or going to court.

The government plans to announce the implementation of One Rank One Pension or OROP in the next 48 hours, sources have said. Veterans on strike say it's a "unilateral" decision as they have not signed off on any proposal.

The agitating ex-servicemen demanding One Rank One Pension has accused the Centre of trying to create a rift between the ranks of retired officers, saying that the government has still not been able to come to the negotiating table with a clean agenda as the protests entered the 81st day.

The agitating ex-servicemen and the government appeared to have ironed out some major differences over the contentious issue of One Rank One Pension with the defence veterans saying on Wednesday night that they may accept revision of pension once in two years instead of one year as demanded by them.

The protesters demanding the implementation of the One Rank One Pension Scheme, or OROP, believe that they are about to each a breakthrough in the negotiations with the government, sources said.
