P Chidambaram On 2021 Budget

The Congress tore into the government in the Rajya Sabha today for presenting a "disappointing" budget, with former Finance Minister P Chidambaram describing it as a "budget for the rich, of the rich and by the rich" that is meant for only "one per cent of India's population that controls 73 per cent of the country's wealth".

Senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram criticised the 2021 budget today on several counts, including special outlays for election-bound states and the measures announced for the Public Sector Banks or PSBs. "The intent of the government is clear -- to let the PSBs bleed slowly so that they can be privatized," he said.
