Pakistan Plane Skids

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane carrying 48 passengers skidded off the runway while landing at the Gilgit airport on Saturday, officials said.

The pilot of a Pakistan passenger plane that skidded off the runway last week was intoxicated, officials confirmed today, as the country's civil aviation authorities warned carriers not to let their pilots fly drunk.

A Pakistan International Airlines' plane skidded off the runway while landing at the airport in Lahore on Friday though all 48 people on board escaped unhurt. A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman told PTI that the ATR-653 aircraft was coming to Lahore from Islamabad.
