Pakistan To Renovate Hindu Temples

Hindu pilgrims from India, US and Gulf region prayed at 100-year-old renovated Maharaja Paramhans Ji mandir in northwest Pakistan on Saturday amidst tight security, one year after temple was demolished by a mob belonging to a radical Islamist party.

Pakistan's Punjab province government has released Rs 20 million to renovate a Krishna temple in Rawalpindi city and expand it to accommodate more Hindu worshippers on festivals and religious occasions, a media report said today.

Pakistan plans to renovate and improve facilities at a historical Hindu temple complex near Islamabad besides allowing more devotees to visit it as over 120 Indian pilgrims on a trip to the country prayed for peace between the two countries at the ancient religious site.
